Poprad, Lublin’s friend city in Slovakia, hosted the 5th VIVA ITALIA Festival of Italian Culture on 15-17 June 2016. This year it was the first time that Poprad’s friend cities’ delegations took part in the event.
The festival was organised by the City of Poprad and a local association of Italians who are well-represented in this city. They are mostly employees of Italian companies operating in the city, the biggest one of which is Whirlpool with around 2,000 employees. In addition to the performances of Italian artists, the event featured numerous stands promoting different Italian regions. Cooking demonstrations and wine tasting were part of the attractions.
It was the first official visit of Lublin authorities in Poprad. So far only the swimmers that participated in an international competition have represented Lublin in this city. Apart from taking part in the festival, the authorities of the two cities also had the opportunity to hold working meetings.
