The exhibition refers to the 2017 International Psychiatry and Art Conference “Between Religion and Sexuality.”

Krzysztof Dąbrowski was born in Bialystok in 1977. He is a cartoonist, illustrator of comic books and painter. A resident of the Public Nursing Home in Michałów, the artist struggles with his disability and illness, but keeps painting, drawing and contemplating ...

The artist gave his show in Lublin's Art Brut Gallery an intriguing title, "Marked." It probably refers to his own uniqueness resulting from his being marked by both illness as well as a unique artistic talent and original style combined with the ability to convey his own vision of an open world, a longing man and his corporeality.

The exhibition refers to the annual series of exhibitions at Art Brut Gallery, "Between Religion and Sexuality," and is the artist’s statement on taboo issues which he touches upon in a somewhat veiled yet clear and unrestrained manner. His oil paintings made on small canvas boards portray the beauty, physicality and sexuality of the human body, including the female body. Krzysztof Dąbrowski’s works are dominated by eroticism, the author refers directly or indirectly to the state of anticipation of excitement and sexual impulse and lust. His paintings also offer an image of philosophical contemplation on aesthetics, sensuality and, perhaps, a romantic love to a woman from outside the frame (?) or to that shown in the painting as a symbol of licentiousness, nudity, ephemerality, etc.

Krzysztof Dąbrowski's paintings are laced with fantasy and  diabolic elements, these features almost constantly embodied by a voluptuous woman with strong arms, beautiful breasts and buttocks who boldly reveals to us everything that takes place under the veil of night or clothing.

Krzysztof Dąbrowski's paintings emanate with sexuality. They often portray deformation. The author also emphasizes this with the coloring of his paintings. The scenes are made of pink, with the help of which the artist constructs and exposes the curves of a female body, while blue and turquoise accentuate her skimpy clothing and a fabulous background. The colors in his paintings tend to get dirty and even disturbingly cold. But not all Krzysztof Dąbrowski’s works portray an alluring  woman, a sexually appealing woman of dreams. His paintings also depict, though less frequently, angels, phantasmagorias and love stories (e.g. a knight kissing a court lady). There is also an endless sea that perhaps dents Dąbrowski's painting enthusiasm, while its waters and vastness interchangeably stir and dampens the artist’s imagination.

The exhibition of Krzysztof Dąbrowski's works is extremely interesting, it is worth our attention and reflection on the fullness of corporeal experience.
