Resident of Lublin on the list of 100 people who are shaping the future of business, entertainment, sports, politics, science, health and more. For the third time, the American magazine TIME has published a list of 100 people who are shaping the future of business, entertainment, sports, politics, science, health and more. TIME100 NEXT list includes doctors and scientists fighting COVID-19, advocates pushing for equality and justice, journalists standing up for truth, and artists sharing their visions of present and future. This year, Polish LGBT activist, filmmaker and photographer Bart Staszewski was chosen by TIME, the American magazine as one of its "100 emerging leaders". In 2018, he co-organised the first-ever “Equality March” in his home town Lublin and ever since he has been highlighting the growing number of small towns that passed non-binding resolutions banning “LGBT ideology.”

As LGBT rights are increasingly attacked by Poland’s right-wing leadership, Bart Staszewski is emerging as a symbol of resistance - explained the authors of the prestigious ranking.

His goal is to “change reality.” His strategy is to travel to those towns and take photos of LGBT people standing in them, near signs he made that say “LGBT-free zone”. Staszewski hopes the images will show Polish politicians—and the world—that “we are not an abstract being, an ideology, but real flesh-and-blood people who must live in these places.”
“Everyone on this list is poised to make history,” says Dan Macsai, editorial director of the TIME100. “And in fact, many already have.”

The magazine also distinguished such people as the poet Amanda Gorman, the Prime Minister of Finland Sanna Marin, the actress Hunter Schafer (Euphoria series) and Anya Taylor-Joy (The Queen's Gambit).

Time 100 is an annual listicle of the 100 most influential people in the world, assembled by the American news magazine Time. The final list of influential individuals is exclusively chosen by Time editors, with nominations coming from the Time 100 alumni and the magazine's international writing staff.
