Spilno - City of Lublin opens a new intercultural space for residents
14.11.202212:08

Spilno Lublin was officially opened on November 10. This new venue in Lublin, was created for young residents from Poland and Ukraine. The project has been funded with support from the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF). Due to the drive of City of Lublin and the involvement and experience of Lublin's NGOs it was feasible to commence the project itself.

Since the beginning of war in Ukraine, we have been making every effort to pay attention to the needs of people who have found shelter in Lublin. First and foremost, these are mainly women with children, a group that particularly requires support and care. Due to cooperation with UNICEF, we have the opportunity to invite Ukrainian and Polish children and their guardians to a unique place of learning, fun and integration - says Krzysztof Żuk, Mayor of Lublin.

The word "spilno" in Ukrainian means "together".

The Spilno Lublin programme is already extensive and covers various aspects of support and integration. Spilno Lublin offer includes:

  • an English language course for children aged 10-12,
  • a Polish language course for children and adults from Ukraine,
  • a Ukrainian language course for children from Ukraine.

Workshops for people working with the refugee community will be a major factor in an integration process. Suggestions can be put forward in person or e-mailed to: .

A detailed programme of activities for the following month is available at the Spilno Lublin headquarters and published on www.facebook.com/spilnolublin

UNICEF Ukraine initiated the SPILNO centre as a place for integrated social service, for children and their families affected by the war in Ukraine. The cooperation agreement signed in June by the city authorities and representatives of an international organisation provides in-kind and pecuniary contribution amounting to approximately PLN 19 million.
