2011 Christmas Festival

2011 Christmas Festival
13.12.201115:22

The Christmas Festival will take place from December 17 to January 1. For the first time, the Dominican Order, the Marshal's Office of the Lublin Voivodship and the Lublin Commune are working together to organize Christmas season events.
In the previous years, the authorities of the Lublin Commune would display a Christmas nativity scene at the Po Farze Square. This year, the nativity scene will be moved to the square next to the Dominican Basilica – at the end of Złota Street. During the Festival, it will be the venue of Christmas art performances filled with Christmas carols.
The Marshal's Office of the Lublin Voivodship is the organizer of the Christmas Market. Everyone is invited! Among approximately 20 stalls, there will be a selection of Christmas-themed handcrafted products and delicious traditional Christmas dishes. The Christmas Market will be available to visitors from December 17 to December 21. The stalls will be erected at the Old Town Market Square, next to the Crown Tribunal building.
On December 18, the Dominicans will invite everyone to gather around the Christmas table for the 12th time in the row.
“Christmas is a family holiday, and the Christmas Eve is when people get together. We want to meet at the Christmas table to show our community spirit. We want to show all the best we have. We want to invite everyone to shake hands, exchange wishes and ask for forgiveness in order to make the next year even better. Let's show the world that we stand together!,” invites Father Robert Głubisz, the Prior of the Dominican Convent in Lublin.
The table with Christmas Eve dishes will be displayed in the Old Town, and the Dominican Basilica is where we will gather for a solemn Holy Mass. We will also continue with the tradition of decorating Christmas trees and giving gifts to children.
Among other attractions, there will also be a Christmas illumination, aromatic spruce trees and a welcoming Christmas atmosphere.
Organizers invite everyone to help them organize the Old Town Christmas Eve by preparing gifts for the youngest. Those gifts will be wrapped and given as Christmas presents to 700 of the most needy children of our city.
