2016 Christmas Festival

2016 Christmas Festival
16.12.201613:07

Prior of the Lublin Dominican Order, Father Grzegorz Kluz, and Mayor of the City of Lublin, Krzysztof Żuk, cordially invite the citizens to take part in this year’s edition of Christmas Festival already under way in the Old Town. This year’s festival will feature concerts, exhibitions, free workshops for children and a real novelty that is a screening of Christmas films.

As tradition holds, Lublin's Nativity Scene will be located in the vicinity of the Basilica of the Dominican Friars, at the end of ul. Złota street which will turn into a Christmas music stage designed for artistic performances filled with carol singing. One of the key performers will be Lublin Street Band.

Like every year, Dominican Friars will gather the citizens together around the Christmas table to celebrate the Old Town Christmas Eve on December 18. A unique Christmas ambience will be guaranteed by a common celebration, Holy Mass for the citizens, Christmas procession, Christmas Eve dinner, wishes and wafer sharing.

Children with their parents are welcome to participate in the artistic workshops conducted by the KLANZA association and Dekoramika Studio. The organisers will provide the participants with the opportunity to satisfy their yearning for creating, discovering new skills and developing manual skills, as well as to celebrate together. What is more, a post-contest Nativity Scenes exhibition made by children from Lublin kindergartens will be displayed in the cloisters of the Basilica of the Dominican Friars.

If you cannot imagine Christmas without Christmas mood films, please save the date of December 28-29 and come to Teatr Stary, where a screening of Christmas-related films will be held. The films, which are to be screened, include cartoons and family comedies which will guarantee a joyful Christmas ambience.

There will be a unique concert performed by Trebunie-Tutki band on December 28 at 8.30 p.m. The concert of the two-generation family from Podhale will delight you with a uniting family character and will introduce you into cheerful celebrating. The event will be a musical journey into a dying world of tradition, both the Podhale ones as well as those dating back to the roots of Christianity. A traditional folk custom of “Sprinkle the seed to guarantee health and happiness” will conclude the concert with traditional Polish carols and pastorals. The concert will constitute a unique opportunity to celebrate the holiday with your family as well as to delve into reflections in this special season.

The Festival will feature Christmas illumination, spruce fragrance and a unique Christmas atmosphere.

Please take a look at the event programme and participate in the Festival. We hope that the attractions will allow you to celebrate this holiday season in a joyful way.
