The initial works concerning the project of the revitalization of the Bystrzyca Valley together with the area management of the riversides have finished. The main point of all activities is the fullest deployment of the potential in recreation of the Bystrzyca river, “restoring” the river to the city and also the improvement of the flood safety. The project will also contribute to the complex revitalization of the riverside areas including parks Zawilcowa and Rusałka; the area between the Romera street and Janowska street; the grounds of the Lublin Horse Riding Club [Lubelski Klub Jeździecki]; and degraded areas of the Marina Resort by the Zemborzycki Reservoir.

- The revitalization of the Bystrzyca Valley during my term of office is one of the priorities in the extent of the shaping the attractive urban area. The river has a chance to become one of Lublin’s attractions not only for the citizens, but also for the tourists and investors. We want to fully deploy the potential in recreation of this area – says Krzysztof Żuk, the Mayor of Lublin.

The important effect of the revitalization will be also the increase of the amount of water stored in Zemborzycki Reservoir. It will be of the great help in case of prevention of floods or draughts, and will also improve the quality of water.

- The cost in total of the project is assessed to the amount of about 456 m PLN. The execution of the project starts after receiving the external financing in 2nd quarter of 2016, and will take up to five years. At present, the working out of the detailed conception of the project, the feasibility study of the technical documentation on the basis of which the suitable permissions will be made to start the work, are in progress – informed Zdzisław Strycharz, the Mayor’s Adviser for the Revitalization of the Bystrzyca Valley.
