The contest is organised by a Swiss New7Wonders Foundation which has already chosen the man-made New7Wonders of the World and the New7Wonders of Nature. The latter contest was particularly noted in Poland as Masuria entered the finalist phase and was shortlisted one of the top 14 wonders of the world, the only one from Europe.
The following 11 Polish cities were selected to participate in the new edition of the contest: Bydgoszcz, Gdańsk, Katowice, Cracow, Lublin, Poznań, Szczecin, Toruń, Warsaw, Wrocław and Zamość. Cities from over 300 countries take part in the new edition of the contest. Its initial phase, in which the net users choose one representative of each participating countries, closes on 7 March. In the next phase, which finishes on 23 November, people will be voting on the selected cities.
After that, an expert panel will look into the group of 77 top ranked cities and select 28 cities for the finalist phase of the contest.
This final stage will start on 7 December and last a year, after which time we will get to know seven most beautiful cities of the world.
