This year’s edition of the Carnival is an integral part of the 35th European Juggling Convention (EJC) organized by Sztukmistrze Foundation with the support of the European Juggling Association. The organizers of the Carnival are Lublin Municipality, the Centre for Culture in Lublin and Sztukmistrze Foundation. It will be one of the biggest cultural events that have ever taken place in Lublin.

European Juggling Convention (EJC) is the biggest and the most prestigious event strongly connected to the circles of juggling enthusiasts, new circus artists and buskers. “European” only in its name, in reality, it is popular all over the world gathering from 2,5 to 7 thousand people.

Sztuk-Mistrz Carnival in Lublin is a celebration of the new circus, theatre and alternative art. The idea derives from a centuries-old social tradition of mutual celebration, carnival and the Magician of Lublin – a widely recognized figure. Any street can be a stage. Actors are both artists and spectators. In various corners of Lublin you can meet buskers – street performers, musicians, jugglers, acrobats, magicians. Every year a few dozen people from around the world walk the tightrope between two buildings in the atmospheric Old Town (Urban Highline). An inherent part of the Carnival is a parade. In a colorful procession of artists and performers, there are a lot of tourists and people from Lublin. Sztuk-Mistrz Carnival offers energetic dance and acrobatics fire shows. Artists’ performances with firing objects are one of the most spectacular attractions of the event.

The first edition of the Carnival was hailed as the Cultural Event of 2012 by Gazeta Wyborcza Lublin (Lublin Wyborcza Newspaper). The project was also considered the best Polish promotional product of 2010 in “Poland is getting more beautiful – 7 Wonders of European Funds” contest organized by the Ministry of Regional Development. The event was nominated for the Złote Spinacze Award (Golden Clips Award) of 2010 for PR and in 2011, perceived as the most effective region promotion event, it was awarded Kryształowa Elka.
