Lublin is to be an organiser of Euro U21. The Management Board of PZPN - the Polish Football Association - accepted the list of cities to be recommended to UEFA as the host cities for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship. The Championship is to be organised in Poland in 2017. Lublin is one of the host cities, where three matches will be played at Lublin Arena.
The Polish Football Association recommended 7 cities to UEFA. All of those cities have met a spate of requirements and await the official approval of the Association for the time being.
I am delighted that yet another important, international meeting takes place in our city. Lublin is prepared to host the participants of the European Championship – says Krzysztof Żuk, Mayor of the City of Lublin.
Participants of the Championship will be divided into 3 groups. The first group will play in Gdynia and Bydgoszcz, whereas the others will compete on football pitches located in Warsaw, Lublin and Kielce and finally, the third group will meet in Kraków and Tychy.
This event promotes our country and football community. We have adequate stadiums all over Poland and guests visiting our country will be able to see them everywhere, literally stretching from the sea to the mountains – says Zbigniew Boniek, the President of the Polish Football Association.
The UEFA European Under-21 Championship involving 12 teams will take place between 16-30 June 2017. The final match will be played on the Polish Army Stadium in Warsaw. Further to recommendation of Lublin, the final approval given by UEFA should be just a mere formality. Eleven teams singled out in the preliminaries are going to play apart from the White-and-Reds.
