New Year's Eve 2015/2016 in Lublin

New Year's Eve 2015/2016 in Lublin
01.12.201514:03

A few thousand people meet every year on Plac Litewski (the Litewski Square) in the city centre to welcome the New Year. Attractions offered by the Centre for Culture in Lublin await both adults and children. We would like to present the programme of the New Year's Eve within Lublin ognia! (Lublin, fire!) and Bawi Misie events.

Lublin ognia! The New Year's Eve Spectacle / Plac Litewski

“Lublin Ognia” is the unique spectacle which has been created on the occasion of the New Year's Eve. The outstanding show prepared with the use of fire, lasers, stage pyrotechnics, and the most modern multimedia props will be organised on three stages. Nearly 100 fire dancers and artists of light from all over Poland will perform. The show will combine the art of the modern circus, illusion, jugglery and dance. Plac Litewski is going to transform into the place full of extraordinary illuminations, lights and colours on this night.

“Lublin Ognia” is the show based on the most spectacular cultural events which took place in Lublin and the huge potential of the artistic environments of our city. The representatives of almost all of the areas of art such as the visual, the circus, the musical and the theatrical ones have been invited to organise the event. We cooperate with the Sztukmistrze Foundation which is famous for organising numerous events such as the Night of Fire, Varite or Circulation contributing to the development of the New Circus. Jarosław Koziara will create the magical space referring to the symbolism of fire and DJ Papa Zura as well as the group Sambasim will make the beginning of the New Year full of dynamics and the musical power of the exceptional ritual and sheer fun.

The following artists will perform during the event:

  • Multivisual – the finalists of the 5th edition of the programme “Mam Talent” (Poland's Got Talent). The group organises shows combining the modern circus with illusion and employs the most modern multimedia props.
  • Spin Me – is the group from Poznań organising shows which combine elements of the fire show with the LED technology. The members of the group perform in glowing costumes.
  • Flagrantis – is one of the most original groups of the fire artists in Poland. The winner of many competitions and festivals of the fire artists groups. Original costumes and elements of dance choreography make the group distinctive.
  • Antares – is one of the oldest groups of fire dance in Poland. The members of the group use elements of acrobatics, jugglery and dance choreography as well as burning props usually employed in the fire show: POI, sticks, ropes, fans as well as umbrellas, burning constructions and dolls.
  • Jerzy “Solo” Kozłowski – is one of the most recognisable jugglers in Poland. He specialises in solo fire shows during which he uses sticks and unique juggling props.
  • Synergy Art – fire dancers who use elements of stage pyrotechnics.
  • The Sztukmistrze Foundation – has been established to represent the Lublin juggling group Sztukmistrze and support the development of the art of New Circus. The Foundation organises the Sztukmistrze Carnaval in Lublin and arranged the 35th European Juggling Convention in 2012 which is the biggest and the most prestigious event of jugglers-amateurs, artists of New Circus and street performers.
  • Papa Zura – is a musician, a DJ and the collector of vinyls from Lublin. He performs the following genres of music: funk, soul, disco, acid jazz, rap, reggae (including the unknown tracks) and the newest tracks (of broken beat), music from Brazil, Africa and jewels of the Polish music.
  • Sambasim – is the percussion ensemble from Lublin. The repertoire of the group contains both traditional afro Brazilian rhythms which originated in the north of the country (afoxé, congo, côco), street samba (batucada) which is the landmark of Brazil as well as the modern rhytms (drum&bass, charme or samba-funk). Sambasim provides the power of rhythm.
  • Jarosław Koziara – is a performer and a visual artist who works on many genres of the visual art. He is the author of many theatrical sceneries as well as spectacles and outdoor events (for example the Finals of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity).
