Even though Lublin did not win the title of the European Capital of Culture 2016, our ideas appealed to the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. During his recent visit in Lublin, the Minister declared an increase of financial support for cultural activities and a patronage for the Night of Culture.
We are developing a cultural programme and strategy for the city. Application for the title of the European Capital of Culture was extremely socialised and now we want to use this potential and activity of the citizens. Upon conducting social consultations, we would like to submit a pact to the Minister of Culture. We want to refer to the applicaton to the largest extent possible, however, we do not close the door to anyone, said Mayor Krzysztof Żuk at a press conference.

We keep four main thematic axes and 60% of the projects from the application. We are waiting for the citizens' opinions on what they like most in the application and what they think it lacks, encouraged Rafał „Koza” Koziński.
The parties to the Pact would be the City of Lublin, the ministry and a broad community representation. The Pact would relate to the cultural programme „Lublin. The City in Dialogue 2017”.
The Pact declares support for the culture till 2017 and stipulates financial obligations of the ministry. The projects incorporated in the application underwent a thorough social review. Actions within the districts of Lublin are yet another priority, explained Włodzimierz Wysocki, the Deputy Mayor for Culture.
