The Church of the Holy Spirit was built in 1419 along with a hospital building. It is assumed that it could have been built on the site of a previously existing wooden church. In the 16th century, the Lublin councillors took over the church. At the end of the 16th century, the church suffered two fires. It was rebuilt in 1608. The presbytery was covered with a Baroque dome, the interior was decorated with stucco. In the second half of the 17th century, the hospital buildings were pulled down and a monastery for the Discalced Carmelites who had just arrived in Lublin was erected in their place. The church received the name of Our Lady of the Scapular. The church was maintained in the Lublin renaissance architectural style. There was a treasury, a choir and a refectory in it. In the following years, Stefan Czarnecki founded the chapel of the Mother of God. In 1642, tears were seen in the image of Our Lady of the Good Council. The wonderful painting is in the church to this day. In 1733 the church burnt down again, it was partially rebuilt in the Baroque style.
In 1967, the church was entered into the register of monuments. In 1989, the 75th anniversary of the coronation of the image of the Blessed Virgin Mary was celebrated, and three years later the 350th anniversary of the appearance of the bloody tears in the image of the Virgin Mary was held.
