The Fish Gate was probably built in the middle of the 15th century connecting two neighbouring burgher houses situated at 5 Rynek and 2 Grodzka Streets. It was not the element of the city's defensive system but it was built in such a way as to close with its arcade Rybna Street leading to the square where a fish trade took place. The gate was remodelled in the Renaissance era adding to it a small wall above the cornice that survived until around 1862. Destroyed, it was rebuilt in 1945.
