Originally, there was the vicarage of the Parish Church of St. Michael here. In the second half of the 19th century, as a result of confiscation of the estate belonging to the church, the building passed into Russian hands and then it was handed over to the Jewish Community. It housed the Jewish Orphanage, so-called "orphan asylum” and the shelter room for the Jewish elders and crippled. On March 24, 1942, during liquidation of the ghetto the orphans, the caregivers and the elderly were shot by German Nazis in the meadows of the Tatary district. On the wall of the building there is the plaque commemorating the building’s history embedded on November 9, 1987 on the 45th anniversary of liquidation of the Lublin ghetto.
Nowadays, the building is the seat of the Youth Culture Center "Pod Akacją".
