The palace was built in the first half of the 17th century. It was then a single-storey building with an inner courtyard and two corner defensive towers. At the end of the 18th century, it became the property of Marcjan Grotkowski. It was often hired for public balls and theatrical performances. In the 19th century the building was converted into a residential building and a thorough reconstruction was carried out, as a result of which the building lost its Baroque features. At the beginning of the 20th century, the club of merchants was located here, which organized the public entertainments. Since the late 1980s, it has been the seat of trade and service enterprises.
