Architectural Monuments Trail

Colour: yellow
Stations: 16
Length/Duration: 3 km, 2.5 - 3 hours

Lublin – the largest city east of the Vistula – has a very long history. Over seven hundred years went by from the establishment of the first settlements in the 6th century to the town charter being granted in 1317; a similar period of time passed between Lublin obtaining the incorporation charter from King Władysław the Elbow-high and the present day.

The oldest architectural monument in Lublin and in the region of Lubelszczyzna is the fortified tower on the Castle Hill erected in the 13th century. Over the next several hundred years, diverse architectural structures were being constructed in the medieval city and, later, secular and religious, fortified and residential, private and communal landmarks. We can see numerous architectural monuments in our city from Romanesque to contemporary ones.
The most important creations of builders and architects serving various functions, often different than originally intended, are found along the Architectural Monuments Trail.
