In 2018, we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the restoration of Poland's independence.
Lublin has a special right to speak about independence and the role it played in the processes of freedom of expression. From the beginning of 2018, in an exceptional way we recall the phenomena that began in our city, and subsequently influenced the progress of independence throughout Poland. The 100th anniversary of the restoration of independence began symbolically in Lublin. On November 7th, 1918, we became the first capital of free Poland and the seat of the first government of an independent country. We are proud of our history. During celebrations in Lublin, we recall those emotions and mood that accompanied the events 100 years ago, said Krzysztof Żuk, Mayor of Lublin.
