The history of Lublin has been connected with the presence of ethnic and national minorities. These religious and customary differences significantly influenced the nature of the city in the past. Now it is also an important part of the cultural landscape of Lublin.
Multicultural Lublin
tries to bring the differences of national and religious minorities closer. It also wants to show how they intermingle and complement each other. The project focuses not only on showing the multicultural tradition of the old Lublin, but mainly on the national and religious richness in the city upon Bystrzyca.
We would like to invite the citizens of Lublin to join us on 27 -31 of May, 2009 and attend the meetings with the representatives of national and religious minorities. They will present their identity through artistic activities that are so close to everyone.
Multicultural Lublin promotes tolerance and intercultural dialogue by educational and cultural activities of high artistic value. The organizers aim at improving social relations and breaking the stereotypes. The meetings will be a chance to see the presence of other religious traditions in Lublin. By the life-span and the impact on today’s cultural live of the city, the organizers want to emphasize the value and meaning of this diversity that let us call Lublin a multicultural city.
