The Young Art Forum of Biała Gallery presents “Cud w Białej” (A Mircale in Biała) - exhibition by Michał Stachyra.
Michał Stachyra began his artistic existence quite spectacularly in 2004 after the exhibition Odkrycie Fresku (The Discovery of the Fresco) in Biała Gallery in Lublin. His next projects have involved changes in his identity. He has already been a Finnish archeologist, a participant in a beauty contest, a spider-man on a billboard, a politician in the local election in Germany, an art curator organizing the Pilgrimage through art, a worker, a member of the Association of Artists and Designers, a civil anti-terrorist, a watercolor painter on a mission in Iraq, and a co-founder of the ARTYŚCI DO WYNAJĘCIA (Artists to rent) art company. Each time the artists tries to perform a different social role and he tries to identify with it. He adapts his body, appearance, behavior and mentality to the new role.
His present incarnation is connected with the discovery of the fresco, but this time it involves a miracle. The walls of the underground rooms of the Young Art Forum are covered with images of saints known from the icons. They emerge as mould, dirt or even blood and the ambiguous crowd scenes, barely visible figures and portraits, seem to be mysterious discoveries.
The exhibition is open till May 18, 2012, Monday through Saturday from 11.00 till 5.00pm.
