"Fiddler on the Roof" is one of the best-known musicals, based on stories of a Yiddish writer Sholem Aleichem. It is set in the 19th century tsarist Russia and depicts everyday lives of both - Jewish and gentile citizens of a small town Anatevka. The main characters are milkman Tevye, his wife Golde and their young daughter but, as the milkman states at the beginning of the play, there are others, too.
