All About My Family
This Film School exercise movie by one of the most gifted directors of a young generation talks about a family conflict seen from the perspective of a ten-year-old. Such perspective seems to be characteristic for Czekaj, who distorts reality only slightly this time (by using the formula of a fictionalized documentary). In his following films, however, he achieves the dramatic effect with the use of distinguished creation.
Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark Room
Eleven-year-old Łata is preparing a song for the Father’s Day celebrations at school. It is through her eyes, we get insight into the family life. Łata is very observant, but she cannot comprehend everything. Some things she explains to herself in her very own twisted way. Just like the adults who surround her… It it impossible to explain the true magic and unusual form with which this film talks about a family drama.
Twist & Blood
Another drama of a young protagonist. Yet again we are watching a family life from the perspective of an eleven-year-old. “Twist & Blood” May not be as spectacular as “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark Room”, but its authors paid equal attention to the form. It shows a sensitive child expressing the problems of the whole family.
