A pre-premiere screening of Animations of Lublin Legends with the participation of their creators. As part of this year’s festival workshop, children and young adults created two animations: “The Legend of the Lublin Dragon” directed by Karolina Jóźwik and “The Legend of the Angel of Forgetfulness” directed by Joanna Polak.
Ania Broda is the author of the soundtrack for both pictures. The concert will incorporate poems by Danuta Wawiłow, Dorota Gellner, Natalia Usenko and Józef Czechowicz.

The Legend of the Lublin Dragon (Legenda o lubelskim Żmiju), a narration which has not so far functioned as a single literary piece, has been compiled from several texts by Tomasz Pietrasiewicz. The key building blocks of the text have been the etymology of “Żmigród” (Dragon’s Town), a name formerly denoting the hill on which the Old Town is situated, which was later narrowed to denote a short and narrow street, as well as Henryk Gawarecki’s article mentioning gigantic bones excavated during the construction of the Seminary Church in Lublin.

The Legend of the Angel of Forgetting is a Chassidic story of the legendary deeds of the Lublin rabbi Solomon Luria, as written down by rabbi Meir Shapiro.
