American Commercials 2012
This screening showcases last year’s best American commercials honoured in the yearly AICP (Association of Independent Commercial Producers)’s award show and included in New York’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA)’s permanent collection. They feature among others Clint Eastwood and Alec Baldwin and have been directed by the likes of Alejandro González Iñárritu (the maker of “Amores perros” or “21 grams”) or the esteemed commercial directors Tom Kuntz, Filip Engstrom, Lance Acord, Bryan Buckley and Jim Jenkins. One commercial has Willy Nelson, the country legend, sing Coldplay’s “The Scientist”.
The 90-minute screening showcases cutting-edge editing, sound, graphics, special effects as well as superb directing. The screening will also feature socially-committed films and student commercials. The “American Commercials” shows have been screened in Poland since 1992 thanks to Fundacja Młodego Kina.
Euroshorts Festival has promoted young artists, students and independent filmmakers for 21 years. The screened films have won numerous other prestigious competitions. Some have been been awarded BAFTAs, nominated for the Academy Award, or acclaimed in international festivals. “American Commercials”, a screening of commercials included in MoMA’s permanent collection, is an important part of the Festival.
