Blackbird Raum (USA) – a band formed by the members of a squatter community and greenbelt treehouses in Santa Cruz, in the early 2000′s. They all grew up playing in anarcho-punk bands and then they slowly gathered together their skills to create a new genre of music, based on punk -rock and folk.They write entirely original music that is reflective of the world they live in: a realm of abusive police, ecological devastation but also a strong sense of community and a deep love of a natural world constantly on the verge of collapse. They jump back and forth between extremely fast metal-influenced numbers and quasi-medieval chant-and-drone while doing herky-jerky hardcore-influenced time signature gymnastics. Music style of the band is often referred to as gypsy punk and they are the pionieers of it. The band themselves calls it anarcho-acoustic punk . The lyrics are objection against phenomena such as industrialization, mass culture and capitalism.
