Four consecutive August evenings will feature open-air screenings of full-length independent feature films selected from the main programme of the Full-Length Film Festival. The event is the only Polish festival dedicated to indie films, be they fiction or documentaries. At present, thanks to the utmost dedication of the filmmakers and the ever increasing technical quality of the movies, these alternative productions are becoming legitimate rivals of mainstream films and officially endorsed, i.e. state-funded, projects.
Created by movie enthusiasts and relying on original scripts penned by grass-roots cinema aficionados, these films are products of a genuine need of expression and a desire to contribute to the development of cinematography. As a result, they are authentic and important voices representing younger generations.
Three Sisters/Trzy siostry T , dir. Maciej Kowalewski
starring: Rafał Mohr, Bogusława Schubert, Małgorzata Rożniatowska, Ewa Szykulska
psychological thriller/Poland/2011
Based on facts, the film treats of seemingly intellectually challenged Robert who lives in house controlled by an overzealous and hyperprotective mother and her two sisters, all of whom treat the man as a child. To the outside world, the family seems to be a typical, conventional unit that obeys social decorum, paying attention to respectability. However, underneath the veneer of pretence there lies menace and pure evil. It transpires almost immediately that the women are driven by murderous instincts and purposefully conspire to physically and emotionally harass Robert.
