9 –form the title of the film is a human-like rag doll (voiced by Elijah Wood) and the main character of this original animated story kept in the post-apocalyptic atmosphere. 9 and other dolls like him are the only creatures on Earth who survived the war of men and machines. Nine accompanied by a handful of other characters picks up an uneven fight with ruthless robots and find out about great worth of such values as friendship, loyalty and mutual trust. Acker, one of Tim Burton’s students, has created a fascinating post-apocalyptic on-screen world. Superb animation and extraordinary characters made form cloth and buttons make “9” one of the most interesting offers in its genre, recently. Additionally, the way in which the film is constructed ensures that young viewers will experience genuine adventure by watching the protagonists’ battle with callous and terrifying robots and more mature audience will be pleased to discover further references and quotes from such classics as “Terminator” or “Matrix”.

The film was voiced by numerous film stars, apart from already mentioned Elijah Wood, such famous names as Jennifer Connelly, Martin Landau and Christopher Plummer were a part of this project. The score was composed by Danny Elfman, known, for instance, for iconic score for the movie „Batman”.

After the screening, practical creative workshops referencing the film will take place. It will give an opportunity to combine fun and education. The participants will be introduced to the subject of film which may help them better understand visual messages in the future.
