The "Grodzka Gate – NN Theatre" Centre / Dom Słów would like to invite viewers to the exhibition of lithographic works by students from the Lithography Studio of the MCSU (the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University) Faculty of Fine Arts in Lublin

The preview of the exhibition will take place on 4 December 2013, at 5:00 p.m. in Dom Słów, at 1, Żmigród Street.

The exhibition will be on display until the end of December 2013.

The aim of the exhibition is to introduce the history of the planographic printing to the viewers and to present artistic quality of lithography. The exhibits are the works of students from the Lithography Studio of the MCSU Faculty of Fine Arts in Lublin created in the last twenty years.

The exhibition shows approximately 40 lithographic works created with various drawing tools, in various artistic conventions from colourful, abstract compositions to realistic drawings done with lithographic crayon).

During the preview a new studio of lithography will be presented, where workshops of stone printing will be taking place.

The exhibition is organized by Jolanta Gmur – graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts and final project student of the Lithography Studio. It came into being by courtesy of academic staff of the Lithography Studio and the archives of the Faculty of Art.

Lithography is a method of planographic printing on a stone. It was discovered by Alois Senefelder in Munich in 1798. Later, it triggered the development of offset printing. However, technical difficulties and particular requirements as to equipment (lithographic press, stones) made lithography obscure and unpopular. This persuaded the organizers to arrange the exhibition of lithographic works.
