One of the most popular Georgian bands. Zumbaland expertly fuses diverse musical genres: jazz, fusion, folk, funk, and rock. Their versatile and malleable signature sound is what the audiences in Georgia and abroad find most appealing as it allows them to be transported to far-flung lands - both geographically and metaphysically. As a rule, the musicians of Zumbaland are advocates of Georgian identity and local culture that they use as a shield against pervasive cosmopolitanism and ubiquitous pop culture. Their music is typified by liveliness, passion, and a wide array of sounds, all of which are the epitome of genuine Caucasian soul.
Zumba is the acronym of the Georgian folk adage: “You can get it if you really want”. In 1994 the band embarked on its very first tour. 1995 saw the release of their debut album. In 1997 Zumbaland truly made a name for themselves performing at two seminal festivals in Tbilisi: “Hands” and “Margarita”, at which they received The Best Georgian Band Award.
