SEKTA DENTA (Poland)
Sekta Denta is a self-confessed “instru-mental” quartet that has been active for over five years on the Lublin scene, ceaselessly presenting its own alternative vision of music. The purposefully misspellt name of the band (“denta” is a phonetic transliteration of Polish word “dęta”) features a direct reference to the Batman universe, namely to Harvey Twoface Dent. This allusion fittingly describes the band’s polar-opposite nature: the group’s output cannot be simply defined by one modifier. Sekta’s music is the meeting of a number of genres, including jazz, alt rock, progressive rock, film music, post-rock, ambient, and even heavy metal. The debut album, recorded in Electric Eye Studio in Szubin near Bydgoszcz, is slated for the 2014 release. Jakub Kapsa of Contemporary Noise Sextet and Something Like Elvis fame produced, mixed, and mastered the LP. Single “Karzeł” features Jacek "Budyń" Szymkiewicz, known for his work with Polish alternative sensation Pogodno. The beginning of 2014 will see a series of concerts organised to promote the fothcoming album.
