The first comic books about the adventures of Tintin and his faithful dog Milou were created as early as the late 1920s by Belgian artist Herge. The adventures of the young reporter and traveller have been translated into almost 100 languages, becoming one of the most popular comic book series in the world, part of the canon of literature for children to this day. The two masters of the "new adventure cinema," Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson, were in their childhood staunch fans of Tintin, too. The former wanted to film the comic book already in the 1970s; unfortunately, he lacked a good script and necessary tools. In the meantime, however, Spielberg made cult films such as “Indiana Jones,” “E.T” and “Jurassic Park” that opened new directions for the cinema of adventure. In 2011 Spielberg teamed up with Jackson (who was enjoying the great success of his adaption of Tolkien’s “The Lord of the Ring” trilogy), finally making the first part of "The Adventures of Tintin." To tell the truth, the outcome of their collaboration is spectacular. The film has anything it needs: a fast moving plot, appealing characters, positive message, moral, loads of humour and a dash of adrenaline. In short – it is intelligent entertainment for whole families. It should also be mentioned that the film has stunning visual effects owing to the application of the latest animation achievements and the motion capture technique.
