Kinoteatr Projekt invites all to the next installment of its BENSHI Film Discussion Club, which continues with the screening of the third movie in the four-film “Music” series. This time around we are showing “Ray”.
What makes a musician unique? What is the star quality? What does the genius depend on? Absolute pitch? Unusual sensibility? Artistic independence? Creative integrity? What if impairment crosses one’s path to fame and glory?
“Ray” is a story of a blind musician struggling to reach the top that takes us on a journey through Ray Charles’ entire life: we witness his childhood in the American South, in particular in Alabama, we are privy to his gradual transition into an autonomous artist, only to watch re-enactments of his most famous concerts when he was at the top of his game.
Critically acclaimed all over the world (two Academy Awards, a Golden Globe, and many other prizes), “Ray” makes mandatory watching for any blues and jazz enthusiast. There is also a Polish ingredient in this already impressive mix – cinematographer Paweł Edelman.
