Maciej Kuźmiński – Solo
The roles of a spectator, a dancer, and a choreographer are often arbitrary as in the words of Valerie Preston-Dunlop, in modern dance they often intermingle, becoming intertwined. Maciej Kuźmiński presents his own take on the critic’s above observation by locating his performance in a unique configuration so as to provide the audience with an opportunity to change their perspective and shift their focal point.
Kuźmiński’s improvised performance is also a critical look at the history of motor education, inscribed in the very tissues of a dancer’s body. Having to face the emptiness of a stage he is about to perform solo on, he is forced to face his habits and mannerisms, revealing his weaknesses and publicly exposing his limits as a dancer. “Maciej Kuźmiński” is a process, the natural components of which are engagement and boredom spontaneity and exhaustion, self-reflexivity and group consciousness.
