Apart from Shakespeare, Moliere is Andrzej Seweryn’s most important author. In his previous monodrama the legendary actor performed on stage excerpts taken from plays by the Bard of Avon, mainly his monologues. By doing so, Seweryn showed his thespian virtuosity as he changed characters in a flash – being a young man and turning into an elderly person, being a man and becoming a woman. This time around plays by the French master do not provide Seweryn with an opportunity to show off. This is instead a chance for him to be engaged with the audience in a dialogue about art, conventions and the life of Moliere. As a long-time actor of the Comedie Francaise, Seweryn knows the crucial difference between our lay reading of Moliere and his presence in the French soul that he will undoubtedly evoke on stage.
The monodrama is performed in Polish.
