Film screening: Yugo, a short autobiography

A thirty-minute fictionalized documentary that, focusing on the life narratives of a diverse group of people, attempts to explain the phenomenon behind Yugo – a maverick car of small size but larger than life ambitions. Encompassing almost three decades (Yugo was first made in 1980 and continued to be produced until 2008), the film contains among others interviews with its makers and archival footage from all the different periods in the history of Yugoslavia. The film serves also as a cinematic souvenir and an overview of the brand’s history and an introduction to the make that for a long time was the symbol of the region and the epoch it was created in.
