Balkan cuisine has been significantly influenced by the cuisines of Turkey and Greece. Predominantly, Balkan cuisine is characterised by its frequent use of vegetables, meat and dairy products as well as by adopting Southern European olives as one of its staples. Grilled dishes are extremely popular in the Balkans – especially ones served with unique side dishes and garnishes; fish-based meals are also frequent. The Balkan culinary culture meeting is a cooking workshop and a tasting session in one.
