Tonia is tricked into getting drunk in a restaurant and is subsequently driven to prison. The Secret Police demand that she provides evidence of her colleague’s guilt. A long, incessant and humiliating interrogation takes place. A legendary film, acknowledged by the authorities as the most anti-state and anti-communist film ever made in the history of the People’s Republic of Poland. In 1990, Krystyna Janda won the Golden Palm Award at the Cannes Film Festival. The film was short-listed for the Cannes Film Festival Grand Prix.
