„Kobiety z 6 piętra”, directed by Philippe le Guay, running time: 104’, 2010.
A warm, affectionate and affecting (though not affected) story of a French broker and a simultaneous owner of a residential building, who decides to share his roof with a group of Spanish women. Driven by economic necessity, the women decided to leave their homeland and move to France in search of work and financial stability. However, upon inspection France turned out to be way different from their expectations…
In his film, director Philippe le Guay attempts to convey the message of hopefulness – of being able to find a way out against all odds, of being able to change one’s life for better regardless of one’s age or seemingly too much experience. The optimism that is practiced by the Spanish women daily, their genuine joy of life, their spontaneity and hope are so infectious that even a somewhat acerbic, skeptical, bitter and lost Frenchman will look at his own existence differently.
Humour and comedy are two key components of the film, as "Les Femmes du 6ème étage” abounds in funny situations, clever dialogues and loads of laughter.
