Start date 2014-09-13
Start time 19:00

Written and directed by Juliusz Machulski, “Machia” is the first ever stage production of the Old Theatre.

Screenplay and direction: Juliusz Machulski
cast: Adam Ferency (actor of Warsaw’s Teatr Dramatyczny), Piotr Głowacki, Marta Ledwoń
scenography, costumes and lighting: Justyna Łagowska

Focusing on Niccolo Machiavelli, whose 545th anniversary of birth takes place exactly on the day of the play’s premiere, “Machia” offers an engaging and surprising take on the historical figure. Cutting off all the ties with all the stereotypes that Machiavelli has been wrapped up in the public conscience for centuries, the play sheds new light on the engrossing historical and political context of Italian Renaissance. Primarily, however, the play showcases a psychological duel between two strong personalities, neither of whom is what he initially seems to be.
