The event will be broadcast online at video.teatrstary. Free admission. Complimentary tickets are available from the Old Theatre’s box office.
hosted by: Roman Pawłowski
guest: Mariusz Wilczyński
Mariusz „Wilk” Wilczyński – one of Poland’s finest animated film directors, painter and performer. Wilczyński was a guest of honour during the month-long inauguration of the Old Theatre; back then, as part of his “Wilkanoc” project (a play on words alluding both to his surname and to Easter), Wilczyński appeared on-stage alongside Polish rock sensation Kim Nowak and jazz trumpet virtuoso Tomasz Stańko).
At present, Wilczyński is working on his first ever feature-length animated film. Entitled “Zabij to i wyjedź z tego miasta” (“Kill It and Leave this Town”), the movie features score written by the late Tadeusz Nalepa and an ensemble voice cast, including the biggest names of the Polish film industry, such as Gustaw Holoubek, Krystyna Janda, Marek Kondrat, Irena Kwiatkowska and Andrzej Wajda.
Wilczyński is renowned for his unique, highly idiosyncratic and surreal narrative style, based on dream logic. He creates his film using an animation technique of his own creation. He taught classic animation at Kunstuniversitat in Linz (2003-2005) and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. Since October 2007 he has been lecturing at the Łódź Film School. Further information is available at Wilczyński’s official website: www.wilkwilk.pl
