In „Przerwana lekcja muzyki” (“Girl, Interrupted”) James Mangold, the director of acclaimed “Copland”, takes his viewers back to the USA of the late sixties. Featuring a young ensemble cast (Winona Ryder, Angelina Jolie, Clea DuVall, Brittany Murphy) and focusing on similar themes as Milos Forman’s masterpiece, the film is often compared to a teenage version of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest”. However, apart from obvious analogies, “Girl, Interrupted” offers its own unique take on life in a psychiatric hospital, on the issues of rebellion, inner development and ensuing relationships with the outside world.
