"Mermaids" ("Syreny") – a warm, funny and nostalgic comedy about family ties, often difficult relations as well as bigger and smaller everyday problems and complications typical of childhood, puberty and upbringing.
Richard Benjamin, maestro of this type of cinema, was joined on the set by an all-star female cast (Cher, Winona Ryder, Christina Ricci) and by Bob Hoskins, who expertly added his own brilliance to the trio’s thespian virtuosity. Apart from an affectionate, engaging and humorous script, what differentiates the film is its soundtrack, featuring one of the greatest hits of the 1990s – “The Shoop Shoop Song” by Cher.
