In the times when China was fraught with numerous wars waged in the name of uniting the dominion, the king of the Lu Kingdom asked influential philosopher Confucius to bring back his authority as the sovereign. Drawing on his intelligence and charisma, Confucius manages to pacify all the internal conflicts and put an end to relentless wars. However, things turn sour quite quickly.
The New Chinese Cinema series of meetings and screenings focus on the selection of contemporary movies as well as on the broadly understood culture of China.
The development of the Chinese Cinema can only be compared to the growth of Chinese economy. As such, it constitutes an unprecedented worldwide phenomenon. The New Chinese Cinema series is organised under the patronage of Guo Jingmei, Chinese language lecturer at the Catholic University of Lublin.
