Anna Tosiek completed the C. K. Norwid Fine Arts Secondary School in Lublin and is currently a student with the Faculty of Sculpture at the Fine Arts Academy in Warsaw. She won numerous awards already at secondary school, e.g. she was awarded the scholarship from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage for artistic achievements and won the second prize in the regional art competition.
Anna Tosiek’s illustrations shown at the exhibition are inspired by Frances Hodgson Burnett’s novel ”The Secret Garden.” This childhood story inspired the artist to create an image of the world as seen through the eyes of a child; one that is beautiful, intriguing and full of secrets. Tosiek’s works are characterized by a unique atmosphere, subtle colour combinations, an interesting and unique composition as well as an original portrayal of characters. Some of these works were created using three-dimensional models for a better rendering of the light and form. The illustrations presented at the exhibition were made as part of the artist's graduation project in 2012 and 2013 for the C. K. Norwid Fine Arts Secondary School in Lublin.
The exhibition will open at 13 February 2015, at 5 pm.
The exhibition closing event will be held on 13 March 2015, at 5 pm.
