Exhibition: Continuity/Trwanie - "Stanisław Dróżdż. Pojęciokształty/Concept-shapes. Poezja konkretna/Concrete Poetry"

Stanisław Dróżdż (1939-2009) - one of the most seminal artists of the twentieth-century Polish avant-garde and the most outstanding practitioner of "concrete poetry" in Poland. He is renowned for his single pieces as well as his series and cycles (often consisting of multilayered systems composed of numerous elements), which he created out of words, letters, digits, sings and even objects. These took the shape of typewritten pages, photographic prints, computer print-outs, spatial installations, interactive compositions and objects.

"I consider myself a poet. I am more of a poet than an artist. My poetry is closer to the sciences than to the arts."
("Czuję się poetą. Bardziej poetą niż artystą. Mojej poezji bliżej do nauk ścisłych niż do sztuki".)

The title of the exhibition refers to one of the works on display as well as to the universalism and the time-defying nature of the creative output of Dróżdż.

The vernissage is accompanied by a Q and A with Anna Dróżdż, the wife of the late Stanisław Dróżdż.

The exhibition is organised courtesy of Anna Dróżdż.
