Play: Woody Allen's "God" ("Bóg") – translated by Anna Kołyszko

A riveting and engaging comedy whose plot starts in ancient Greece and culminates on the stage of the Osterwa Theater, as the audience members become actively involved in the theatre world unfolding in front of their very own eyes.

Theatre Play: Woody Allen’s "God"/"Bóg"

Woody Allen "God"/"Bóg", translated by Anna Kołyszko.
We are in ancient Athens. But is it really so? Artists are pretending to be Greeks and are debating how to end the play they are about to submit to a playwrights’ competition. There is some drama but what kind of drama? There is some action but where exactly? In the play’s text or on stage? Or perhaps somewhere in the stalls as the actors, actresses, and the audience inter-act, inter-mingle, and inter-mix ... Everybody and every single thing is after all a construct - fiction created by Woody Allen.

America’s number one satirist juggles conventions, infusing them with a degree of existential (and experiential) tragedy, and blurring the boundary between reality and theatricality, fact and fiction. The absurdity of the play or the absurdity of life? “Absurd” is the word that concludes the master’s comedy...
