Einstürzende Neubauten (GERMANY)
Veritable legends of the world alternative scene and pioneers of industrial sounds are noted for using, in addition to their standard instruments, unique hand-made and fully customised ones. Created in Berlin in 1980 by Blix Bargeld, Einstürzende Neubauten constitutes one of the most intriguing and important German artists to have made their debut in the last 35 years. Widely recognized, Bargeld is known as a creative composer, a multi-instrumentalist, a poet and the real McCoy of culture. For years, he has worked closely with among others Nick Cave, with whom he co-founded The Bad Seeds, a cult band in which he played the guitar. Currently, the line-up of Einstürzende Neubauten includes also Alexander Hacke (known for his collaboration with The Tiger Lillies and The Birthday Party), Jochen Arbeit, N.U. Unruh and Rudolf Moser. As far as the creative output of Einstürzende Neubauten is concerned, the has released over a dozen albums, many of which – such as “Ende Neu”, “Silence is sexy” or “Haus der luge” are universally regarded as the absolute canon of the avant-garde and electronica. Entitled “Lament” and typified by Humanist, anti-war sentiments, their most recent effort has also been critically acclaimed by both reviewers and audiences, becoming in consequence one of the most significant musical events of 2014. We can therefore expect to hear their greatest hits in Lublin. Surely, their concert at “The East of Culture” – The Different Sounds Art’n’Music Festival will become one of the most important musical events in Poland this summer. Not having visited Poland for a long time, the group will present a cross section of their rich discography, including “Sabrina”, “Stella Maris” and “The Garden”.
