Written by Israeli playwright Hanoch Levin, “Jacobi and Leidental” has been a resounding success for three seasons in a row: so far there have been five stage adaptations of the play. The Warsaw one, directed by Marcin Hycnar, is ranked as one of the most ingenious and engaging of them all. And one of the funniest. Hycnar is an avid student of the writings of and about Levin – he clearly understands that Levin’s theatre is a mix of stage conventions typical of Samuel Beckett and Bertolt Brecht.
