Jan Młodożeniec (1929 - 2000) was a co-founder of the Polish Poster School and outstanding graphics designer and painter. He left a substantial oeuvre of works. Fascinated by colour and unlimited diversity of lines, he developed his unique style distinguished by a poetic atmosphere, witty messages and surprising associations. He combined letters with graphic signs and painting in an intriguing way. He was apt at communicating messages and meanings of the issues he dealt with. His most important posters for theatre and film productions include: ”Świadectwo urodzenia” (“Birth Certificate”), ”Indyk” (“Le Dindon”), ”Giselle,” ”Meteor,” ”Pajace” (“I Pagliacci”), ”Konformista” (“The Conformist”), ”Jajo węża” (“The Serpent’s Egg”), ”Klute,” ”Saint Jack,” ”Dawno temu w Ameryce” (“Once Upon a Time in America”), ”Historia żołnierza.” He also designed book covers for: Marek Hłasko’s ”Pierwszy krok w chmurach,” Leopold Tyrmand’s ”Zły” (“The Man with White Eyes”), Tadeusz Konwicki’s ”Sennik współczesny” (“A Dreambook for Our Time”), Agnieszka Osiecka’s ”Szpetni czterdziestoletni,” Curzio Malaparte’s ”Kaputt”, Julio Cortazar’s ”Opowieści o konopiach i famach” (“Historias de cronopios y de famas”). Jan Młodożeniec won numerous awards from prestigious art exhibitions and competitions in the world. His works can be found in the most prestigious museums and collections of contemporary art.

The artist was the son of Stanisław Młodożeniec, poet and the co-founder of Polish Futurism, and Wanda Arlitewicz, painter and the daughter of a headmaster of one secondary school in Lublin.
