With the participants of the World Youth day in mind, the Hieronim Łopaciński Lublin Voivodship Public Library in Lublin have organized an exhibition titled ”Library Treasures. The most valuable collections of the Hieronim Łopaciński Lublin Voivodship Public Library in Lublin.”

We would like to present the most valuable documents from the collections of the Library of Lublin. From the library of over a half million items, we have selected the most interesting objects. They are extremely important documents, not only for Lublin’s culture and science, but also unique objects in the context of Polish, European and the world’s culture. We have selected different types of documents: manuscripts, old prints (including incunabula), cartography, iconography, records of social life. We have selected objects that are related to Lublin as well as those that are valuable to our library, even given its patron, Hieronim Łopaciński. We present both publications which outstanding in the field of art typography, as well as those that have been preserved in a small number of copies or have remained the only, unique object. The works on the display include a fragment of a late 14th century manuscript known to the researchers as Łopaciński’s Fragment; parchment documents from royal offices; books from the library of King Sigismund August; centuries-old city maps of Lublin, the oldest Lublin periodicals; valuable iconography of Lublin and the region; pastoral letters by bishops from Lublin; autographs of Polish writers; bibliophile prints. Given the demand of modern times and new trends in exhibiting art, the show also contains a multimedia exhibition.

The exhibition will be on display in the Library’s gallery from 19 July till the end of August 2016. It can be visited (free of charge) in the opening hours of the Library. Basic information about the Library and the exhibition are available in English and Italian. Guided tours of the exhibition and the Library are available for organized groups.
